Hollyoaks - Brendan Brady

  • With Brendan returning from Ireland, it was a fairly quiet week (well, for him) as Kevin’s seduction attempts fell flat and Brendan promised Ste a future together as a family. Aww. Of course, we know that next week brings yet more misery and disaster, so enjoy the lighter moments this week while they last!
  • Votes close tomorrow for Brendan and Ste in the All About Soap Awards. It’d be lovely for the story to get the award so please vote if you get the chance!
  • The big news this week is that you can get your hands on Brendan Brady’s very own coat! Thanks to Emmett’s generous donation of it, I’m raffling it off for the NSPCC. Read the details here and get involved! Thanks to all your kind donations so far, over £700 has been made. It’s incredible.
  • Back into the Hollyverse, it looks like things are starting to heat up towards Brendan’s exit from the show as Walker continues to make Brendan’s life spiral out of control. Catch up with all the spoilers here and an interview with Elliot Balchin (Kevin).

Misc

  • Emmett talked about his favourite dish in a magazine at the weekend - an interesting combination of Rice Krispies and egg!
  • Heat magazine got a bit swoony over Emmett sans tache, you can read that here.
  • Emmett’s in LA at the moment but that hasn’t stopped him meeting up with a few old friends from Hollyoaks - check the Twitter tag to see his photos with Victoria Atkin (Jason Costello), Jamie Lomas (Foxy) and Neil Newbon (Walker).

News Summary (4 Feb - 10 Feb 2013)

Hollyoaks - Brendan Brady

  • Mr Brady was back on our screens on Friday with more great scenes with little Leah and next week is Brendan heavy so make sure you catch up and tune in.
  • And it was an end of an incredible era this week as Emmett finished filming with Hollyoaks and shaved off the trademark moustache with a little help from Bronagh, Kieron and Claire. You can find articles on his final night filming here and the ceremonial tache shaving here. I think we can all agree that tache-less is just as hot as him with the moustache!
  • Seems we’re not the only fans of tacheless Emmett either, if Kieron’s chat on his radio show is anything to go by!
  • Emmett and Kieron are nominated for the ‘Forbidden Lovers’ category in the All About Soap Awards 2013. Voting opens Tuesday and as it’s the last award they’ll be able to win jointly, it’d be great if they won. I’ll post all the voting details when available.
  • Speaking of accolades  Brendan was voted Best Soap Character 2013 and Best Hollyoaks Character 2013 in recent polls on the Digital Spy Forums - a real testament to Brendan’s impact!

The Fall

  • There’s still no airdate for The Fall but it is available to pre-order (released May) which indicates it will be aired before then.

News Summary (28 Jan - 3 Feb)

Hollyoaks - Brendan Brady

  • Brendan’s had a massive week with confessing all about his past to Mitzeee (incredible scenes), Walker’s interference including newcomer Kevin and ending the week on a happier note with Brendan moving in with Ste.
  • Big news this week is that Bronagh Waugh is leaving Hollyoaks in the same week as Emmett. Really sad news although not totally unexpected, but it’ll be gutting to lose the Bradys.
  • It was Emmett’s birthday this week and you can view the Birthday Project video here - which Emmett loved and was grateful for all the messages! Kieron Richardson also “treated” Emmett to a song and dance at work which you can see here
  • Spoilers revealed this week more about Amy’s return, taking the kids with her which has all been a set up by Walker/Kevin and you can read all the spoilers here.
  • PJ Brennan was interviewed about Doug’s return and there were obviously Brendan mentions. He also spoke about working with Emmett too.
  • Emmett’s still filming for Hollyoaks and has been on location with Neil Newbon. His exit appears to be action packed. Kieron described it as ‘spectacular’ on his radio show this afternoon.

Misc

  • There was an issue with one of the January 2011 episodes (the Goodbye Kiss episode) so I reuploaded that here.
  • I also posted about the music used in the Dublin week set of episodes in December, including the really popular instrumental track used when Ste and Brendan hugged after Brendan’s breakdown.
  • Fan sparklytwinatlantictouch has asked me to promote their Emmett Facebook fanpage which is here, so check it out.
  • People have asked me if I’m running a project for Brendan’s exit from Hollyoaks and I will be - so keep an eye out from the end of Feb.

News Summary (14 - 27 Jan 2013)

Hollyoaks - Brendan Brady

  • Finally Brendan returned this week and we saw him babysit Ste’s kids in some adorable scenes (prompting ‘Daddy Brendan’ to trend Worldwide on Twitter) and the ominous return of Walker. Catch up here.
  • Unfortunately Emmett lost out on the National TV Award (gutting) but you can see coverage from the ceremony here along with photos.
  • Ahead of the NTAs, Emmett featured on two radio shows, Juice FM with ex-Hollyoaks stars Matt Littler and Darren Jefferies (Max and OB) and I transcribed that here. He was also interviewed on Kieron Richardson’s radio show and you can listen to that here.
  • Emmett’s given a few in-depth interviews about his time on Hollyoaks and leaving here, and here. All great reads and definitely worth a look!
  • Emmett also expressed his enthusiasm for the show after his exit, saying he’ll still watch it.
  • This marks Emmett’s last week filming on Hollyoaks - he’s already counting down (sob!) and judging by his tweets of long, late night shoots (he and Kieron were filming until 2am on Thursday for example), filming stunts on Wednesday, location shoots - it’s going to be pretty epic.
  • Sadly, we’ve got a week’s blackhole after this week’s excitement - but this week looks brilliant.

I promise I will answer all the messages in my inbox sometime this week! :)

Hollyoaks - Brendan Brady

  • It’s the news that everyone had been anticipating/dreading for quite a while, but Emmett announced his departure from Hollyoaks this week, after two and a half years on the show. Many places reported his departure, DigitalSpy, The Sun & RadioTimes and What’s On TV and the Independent.ie. iMedia Monkey also published an interview today with Emmett which is a great read. I know many of us are gutted that Double B will be no more and we’ll miss seeing him every day but Brendan’s journey on the show has been incredible, legendary and we’re glad we’ve had the experience of his amazing arc. We’re really looking forward to Emmett’s future projects too.
  • And this site isn’t going anywhere! Neither are the videos, so you can continue to rewatch Brendan clips when you miss him the most.
  • If the news is making you sad still, you’ve got every opportunity to express how much Emmett’s portrayal has meant to you by voting for him in the National TV Awards. What a perfect send off that’d be - the ideal leaving present. Hollyoaks won five years ago so it is possible - you’ve just got to vote. Persuade your friends, family, dig up those old email addresses, make your gran an email address - just make sure you click those validation emails!
  • And speaking of the NTAs, I made this video just to prove why Emmett so deserves this award (as if you didn’t already know!)
  • If you had voted until you can’t vote any more then you might also want to take part in the Birthday Project for Emmett - all the details are here.
  • I’ll also be running a project for when Brendan leaves our screens too so look out for that!
  • As for Brendan on screen this week, we saw him cope with his dad’s reappearance and continue to deal with his violence issues - sending Joel and Bart away for good.
  • Ashley Slanina Davies aka Amy Barnes is making a brief return in February (12th & 13th) and is thought to be sharing scenes with Brendan, Ste and the kids. Excited about this - love Bramy!
  • Spoilers for the end of January reveal Brendan babysitting Leah and questioning Ste’s commitment, as well as taking to Mitzeee about his past. Sounds like a huge week!
  • We had photos of Emmett filming at night this week with Kieron and filming outside the deli along with others including James Sutton.
  • In the coverage of the NTA shortlisting (something Hollyoaks haven’t managed in the performance category since 2008) we had photos of Emmett and Kieron encouraging to vote.
  • And finally, I’ve uploaded all the clips of Brendan from August 2010, including his first ever episode and the episode where Brendan and Ste first meet. They can be found here.

News Summary (25 Dec 2012 - 7 Jan 2013)

Hope everyone had a great Christmas and Happy New Year!

Hollyoaks - Brendan Brady

  • 2013 didn’t kick off to a great start for poor Brendan after being forced to spend more time with Seamus. Things went from bad to worse when Joel outed him and just as his father’s torment ramped up a gear, he learned Seamus was staying around for good. From this, Brendan paid Joel to kill his dad, but despite Brendan’s brief bliss in the knowledge Seamus was gone for good - he returned! Catch up here.
  • Please take a look at this year’s Birthday Project if you want to be involved in wishing Emmett a Happy Birthday.
  • In case you missed the final part of the ESF Christmas advent calendar, here’s the photo Emmett took especially for us.
  • The results of the Top 20 Brendan episodes of 2012 were posted here and it’s been really interesting reading the discussion about the results but with the winning episode getting 84% of the vote, it was a popular and worthy winner!
  • Tonight’s E4 sees Brendan take revenge on Joel for not doing the job properly, but Inside Soap gave a sneak peak at what’s to come for Brendan this year. A mysterious figure is set to rip apart soulmates Ste and Brendan and bring Brendan down for good - yikes!
  • Emmett gave a great interview to All About Soap about the murder plot but he also gives, as usual, great insight into Brendan’s mindset. Well worth a read.
  • And after his holidays at home in Ireland and New York, Emmett’s back at work, so there’s a lot more to look forward to watching on Hollyoaks!

News Summary (17 - 24 Dec 2012)

First of all I’d like to wish everyone a very Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year! Have a great time. This site had the most number of visitors ever this week and I want to thank everyone for visiting, enjoying the site and supporting Emmett.

Hollyoaks - Brendan Brady

  • It’s been one of the biggest and best weeks ever for Brendan Brady. Not only did he finally get together with Ste Hay (and smile lots!) but devastatingly for Brendan, his dad Seamus showed up on his doorstep. Catch up with a life-changing week here.
  • In light of the huge Stendan week and Seamus’s arrival, both Emmett and Kieron were interviewed on DigitalSpy. Both interviews are great reads so give them a look.
  • Emmett also triumphed in DigitalSpy’s 2012 poll, winning the most number of votes for Best Soap Actor. Thoroughly deserved I think you’ll agree.
  • The pair also took part in a live webchat on the Hollyoaks website which definitely raised a smile, particularly their posed festive picture! You can read that all here.
  • Spoilers for January reveal a dark twist in the tale as Brendan pays Joel to murder his father when he torments him about being gay. Joel hits Seamus with a baseball bat and drags his body to a shed, which he then sets alight but leaves without checking whether the job is complete. This all kicks off in the first week of January.
  • On Twitter this week everyone was tweeting their excitement! Brendan trended on two days, #StendanInDublin and Hollyoaks trended at the number two spot on one day.
  • If you’re still reeling from the excitement of this week or just want to read about it all over again, you might be interested in reading blog posts by All About Soap, WeLoveHollyoaks and TheDogInThePond. Writer of the Dublin episode with Ste and Brendan as a couple, Jonny Larkin, blogged his thanks too.
  • Hollyoaks released their Christmas music video this week, which saw a unique take on the Twelve Days of Christmas, with Emmett playing up to his Grinch persona! I think his Christmas jumper wearing suggests otherwise.

Even though we’re not expecting any Brendan until January, don’t forget the Hollyoaks Christmas schedule changes.

News Summary (10 - 16 Dec 2012)

Hollyoaks - Brendan Brady

  • This week saw Brendan leave Hollyoaks village for good (although not really, keep breathing!) after hitting Ste, making their reunion very brief. And as Ste and Doug plan to move to America, Ste’s heart isn’t in it. With the build up to Dublin brewing, catch up with the videos here.
  • Christmas might be a week away, but tomorrow is the official start of what Hollyoaks are calling: Stendan Week. Just in case you’ve been living in an underground bunker the last few days, a promo has been released and aired on TV which shows some really juicy clips of next week’s special episodes. I don’t know about you, but this is more exciting than Christmas for me!
  • Lots of spoilers covering Brendan’s father’s arrival in the village have been posted as Brendan struggles to cope. And things look set to take a dark turn as Brendan wants revenge on Seamus (and Joel)!
  • Hollyoaks airing schedules are a little different over the festive period so take a look to make sure you’re not missing anything!

Misc

  • Emmett appeared in magician Damien’s video this week and also cropped up in Lucy Dixon and Laurie Duncan’s video.
  • By some really weird twist of fate I ended up bumping into Emmett on Saturday in London! (After this weird coincidence I probably should have brought a Lottery ticket). He was incredibly lovely (as I’m sure you can imagine) and he seemed really psyched by next week’s episodes too and everyone’s enthusiasm.
  • Again, apologies in advance, I’m behind on answering questions on tumblr but I’ll try to get to them before everything kicks off this week!

News Summary (19 Nov - 9 Dec 2012)

Apologies for being so slap-dash with these lately, I’ll try a bit harder to get back to writing them weekly!

Hollyoaks - Brendan Brady

  • Sadly the scene of Brendan and Mitzeee boxing was cut from episodes this week, but we still got to see him support her against Mercedes and then strike up a deal with her sister Maxine and business partner Liam. A quiet week for Brendan, but if you have been keeping an eye on spoilers you’ll know it’s a big episode tomorrow and there’s even more drama in the following week! Catch up with all the latest videos here.
  • As mentioned, tomorrow’s E4 sees Brendan unleash violence on Ste moments after the pair share a moment, following Ste’s revelation he wants Brendan to ask him to stay. And in the week after, Brendan travels to Dublin to see his children only to be denied access by ex-wife Eileen. Misery likes company and he happens to bump into equally dour John Paul. At the same time Ste stands at the airport with a dilemma in his hands - America or Ireland? Doug or Brendan? (pssst: and you might just know the outcome, but it’s sure going to be a great watch!). Catch up with every last spoiler here, including 2013 spoilers.
  • Speaking of spoilers, we finally witness the arrival of Seamus Brady, Brendan and Cheryl’s father, in less than a fortnight. He’s played by Fintan McKeown and looks set to cause much grief and torment for Brendan. He arrives on E4 19th December and a new spoiler picture sees him and his children in Ste’s flat, when Cheryl spills the beans on Brendan’s sexuality.
  • Twitter reports this week tell us that Emmett’s been filming with Kieron and Ela-May Demircan (Leah Barnes).
  • Magician Damien O’Brien has been filming magic tricks with the cast of Hollyoaks in the greenroom and uploading a video a day. Emmett’s is to be posted next week.
  • Emmett’s up for Best Male Soap Actor at the Digital Spy Poll of the year so take a minute to vote here!

Other Roles

  • You can now pre-order The Inside, directed Eoin Macken and starring Emmett.
  • Emmett will also be starring in short horror All The Little Things along with Eoin, directed by Jason Figgis (who also made Blood). The film was shot in 2007, but is being edited to be screened this year.
  • Emmett was also interviewed saying he has hopes to move to LA next year, suggesting he’ll be moving on from Hollyoaks in 2013. Rumours as to when and how are as yet unconfirmed.

News Summary (11 - 18 Nov 2012)

Hollyoaks - Brendan Brady

  • A life changing week for the residents of Hollyoaks saw Brendan thrown into more emotions. He went from almost confessing his love for Ste, actually confessing the murder of Danny Houston to Doug(!) to struggling to cope, faith and all, after finding Ste in a coma after the wedding. And unmissable week which you can watch here.
  • Latest spoilers reveal that Brendan will be helping newly freed Mitzeee channel her aggression into boxing as well as being approached by Mitzeee’s sister Maxine and Liam with an offer. Other spoilers revealed that once released from hospital, seeing Brendan messes with Ste’s head and he and Doug face a decision to move to America. Spoilers can be found through this tag here.
  • There’s a lovely interview with Emmett in the Inside Soap Yearbook where he talks about the past year as Brendan, how fond he was working with Bronagh and Neil this year and how he misses having his beard!
  • Emmett’s continuing to answer Hollyoaks Later questions and as always is providing fascinating insights into Brendan and filming.
  • Last night Emmett attended the RTS North West Awards in Manchester, although unfortunately did not pick up the award he was nominated for. There are, however some lovely photos which you can see here

News Summary (22 - 26 Oct 2012)

Just a quick note to say I am going away tomorrow until Tuesday night and I don’t think I’ll have internet access (I may be able to answer tweets), so I won’t be updating, posting or answering any questions in this time. Monday night’s E4 will be uploaded as normal by frozenstrawberries and available to watch on YouTube and DailyMotion like normal.

Secondly, a big thank you for your continued support and visits. The site has now reached an excess of 3 million hits, which I think is pretty amazing. So, thank you so much, it’s a pleasure running this site, made even better by everyone who visits! Now onto the news…

Hollyoaks - Brendan Brady

  • It’s been an emotional, and once again busy, week for Brendan! From Lynsey’s funeral, to the arrival of ex-lover Eoghan (and subsequent grief-frustration hook up), to growing closeness with Ste, to counselling and isolation. It’s been a great week. Catch up here.
  • Now you might just have heard a little something about some filming in Dublin this week. If not, where have you been?! We heard Emmett (and surprisingly James Sutton) were off to do some filming in Dublin via Twitter and then a little later it was leaked that Kieron Richardson was also filming there too. As fan photos started emerging, any worries that Brendan and JP would be hooking up in Dublin were put to rest when spoilerific paparazzi photos of a big Stendan snogging reunion were posted! Wow!
  • And just as the internet buzzed with excitement about a Stendan reunion on the Ha’penny bridge, even more photos emerged of Kieron and Emmett filming, showing rather surprising photos of hand holding and smiling!
  • You can find all the important Dublin info with this tag. The Herald also posted this brief article
  • Twitter reports from filming also suggest Brendan and Ste will argue in the street and drink Guinness in Grogan’s bar. It’s suggested that James Sutton’s character (John Paul - who has been living in Dublin for the past four years) will bump into Brendan and Ste in a bar.
  • Dublin scenes are expected to air in December, roughly around Christmas.
  • There are lots of reworded and rewritten spoilers for next week and the week after, as well as snippets from an interview with Kieron Richardson about Ste’s meltdown and the wedding. Brendan is said to storm out of counselling, seek refuge outside of the village and accept he’s in love with Ste. Check the spoilers tag for all this information.

News Summary (15 - 21 Oct 2012)

Hollyoaks - Brendan Brady

  • Brendan was finally back this week, firstly still wounded and with the aid of a walking stick and then back in a suit on Friday’s E4, although still damaged from recent events and being shut out by Cheryl. Catch up with the recent episodes here.
  • It’s been a little bit of a spoiler overload this weekend so bear with me: First things first, Ste’s mum Pauline comes back in a fortnight’s time which sends Ste into meltdown. Brendan manages to comfort him and gets rid of Pauline by offering her money, and she of course rejects her son and takes it. Doug continues to be increasingly put out by Brendan’s presence. You can see photos from these episodes here and more articles here.
  • Also, you might have seen the promo or read the articles about the big Hollyoaks bus crash which takes place during Ste and Doug’s wedding. Casualties are being kept under wraps but I wouldn’t worry about any of the Stendoug triangle perishing!
  • Emmett and Kieron were spotted by a fan filming outside the studio in Liverpool this week and Emmett also tweeted about filming on location next week. Twitter rumours also suggest Hollyoaks is being filmed in Dublin next week, but are the two related? Don’t know yet!
  • Bronagh was interviewed by DigitalSpy this week and talked about Cheryl’s future, the funeral and how she’d like Cheryl and Brendan to make up. You can read that here.

Charlie Casanova

  • Great news for Charlie Casanova as it’s made the #16 spot in the Irish HMV chart, but incase you haven’t bought your copy yet, there’s this scene as a taster with many links for you to purchase it.

News Summary (8 - 14 October)

Hollyoaks - Brendan Brady

  • We’re wading through a Brendan blackhole currently, but he’s back this week - hooray! And it looks like a week full of Brendan next week when the villagers mourn Lynsey at her funeral. Brendan’s past lover (and Lynsey’s brother) shows up, Brendan tries to support Cheryl and Ste and Brendan continue to grow closer. Everything you need to know about the upcoming episodes can be found here
  • Emmett’s been busy again working this week and excited about filming too. He was snapped by Kieron in The Dog here
  • Thanks to everyone who voted in the National TV Awards! The shortlist will be announced in the new year when voting starts again.
  • Kieron Richardson had a bit of a Stendan chat with some callers today on the KeeBroShow and you can listen to that here.
  • Emmett’s starting answering fan questions about Hollyoaks Later and he’s given two really detailed and brilliant answers so far so make sure you read!

Charlie Casanova

  • Charlie Casanova is out on DVD tomorrow! A link to buy from Amazon is at the top of the page.

News Summary (1 - 7 Oct 2012)

Hollyoaks - Brendan Brady

  • It’s been an unmissable week of action for Brendan. We saw Walker’s plans to destroy Brendan’s life escalate as both Ste and Declan suffered and Brendan decided to keep his distance from his loved ones, for fear of hurting them. Catch up here.
  • Emmett was interviewed in this week’s Inside Soap magazine following his double victory. He talked about dad dancing in Hollyoaks Later and his pride in the scenes that revealed Brendan’s dark past.
  • We won’t have any Brendan on screen this week but he’s first mentioned in spoilers again from the 18th Oct (E4 date) although he might pop up before then. Lynsey’s brother, Eoghan Nolan will be appearing in four episodes coming up (from the 22nd Oct) and has history with Cheryl and Brendan.
  • Emmett’s been really busy filming this week and it appears he was filming with the little girl who plays Leah Barnes (Ste’s daughter) today, judging from the actress’s mother’s Twitter account.
  • Rumours are also flying around Twitter about the casting of Brendan and Cheryl’s father. Apparently the audition piece names him as Seamus Brady. In the audition piece he was scripted to flirt with Frankie Osborne and speak to Brendan and Ste in The Dog. (However, auditions scripts don’t necessarily end up being scenes shown). Interesting all the same! I’ll keep you posted on any concrete information regarding this as soon as I know anything!
  • Please keep voting Emmett for the National TV Awards!

News Summary (17 - 30 Sep)

Hollyoaks - Brendan Brady

  • After an incredible Hollyoaks Later, we were treated to equally fantastic episodes of the regular show this week. Brendan is injured and weak (being nursed back to health by Ste’s jam sarnies) and Walker is out for the ultimate revenge. Exciting, unmissable episodes that can all be watched here.
  • Brendan features heavily in next week’s episodes and so plays a big part in this week’s advert! And all the spoilers for next week including magazine scans can be found here.
  • The brilliant news this week was that Emmett picked up TWO awards at the Inside Soap Awards. He won the reader voted prizes for Best Actor and Best Bad Boy and I honestly can’t think of anyone who deserves it more.
  • Keep voting for the National TV Awards!
  • At the Inside Soap Awards, Emmett was interviewed by Digital Spy (talking about Brendan’s future), MSN, The Express and on Daybreak.
  • As you might have seen, Emmett kindly offered to answer fan questions about Hollyoaks Later. I’ve sent him 10 questions (in some cases, some questions have been reworded or merged so as to try and include as many people’s questions as possible) and as soon as he answers them I’ll be posting them on this site.

Other Roles - Charlie Casanova

  • Charlie Casanova is out on DVD in just over a fortnight. You can preorder it on Amazon, HMV and so on.
  • A tale of Charlie Casanova’s birth and controversy is told here in the (un)Making of Charlie Casanova.
