Hollyoaks - Brendan Brady

• Mysterious Walker’s arrival in the village was a great end of the week and I can’t help but feel that it’s going to get better and better. You can, as always, catch up with this week’s episodes by looking through the videos tag.
• Neil Newbon who plays Jamie “Walker” gave a cryptic interview with DS and gave away some teasers on the Hollyoaks website too. There are also some exclusive pictures of Brendan and Walker having a face off!
• Emmett chatted some more about Walker in an interview with Inside Soap and spoke about how Brendan’s three main motivations: power, possession and Ste will be explored in the future. Not only will people be arriving to change Brendan’s life forever, but Emmett also said, that in regards to “Stug”, Brendan doesn’t share his toys!
• Also in Inside Soap this week was a day in the life of Emmett and in All About Soap a viewer wrote about their love for Stendan. Aw.
• Bronagh Waugh was interviewed about her additional TV project (The Fall) and she also chatted about future Brady storylines and Stendan.
• It’s an exciting week ahead for Brendan - check out the TV promo for this week!

Charlie Casanova

• Charlie Casanova opened in cinemas across Ireland and in London on Friday (see here for where it’s showing). 
• You can watch a Q&A with Emmett and Terry McMahon here as well as an out-take.
• As writer and director Terry McMahon predicted, reviews have been mixed, but praise for Emmett has been excellent. The Independent said this

But the film really has something in its star: imagine Hugh Grant’s saturnine Irish cousin crossed with the mad-bastard glare of the young Christopher Walken. Emmett Scanlan projects every atom of this corrupt and violent misanthrope as though his life depended on it.

• I had the pleasure of watching Charlie Casanova at the weekend and was totally impressed and mesmerised by Emmett’s performance. You can’t help but be gripped by the film. If you get the chance to go and see it then you should.

• The voting details haven’t been announced yet but Emmett is up for loads of Twitter Soap Awards (Best Actor, Sexiest Male, Best Partnership [with Kieron], Best Episode [Brendan tells Ste he loves him] and I’m also up for Outstanding Contribution to Fandom [wow, yikes!]. Hollyoaks - Brendan Brady

• We’re in the middle of a brief Brendan blackhole right now (he’s back this coming Thursday) but you can follow the Ste and Doug story here - and you just know that it won’t be long until Brendan involves himself!
• Brendan’s heavily involved in the upcoming spoilers and with new arch nemesis Walker making his début on Thursday, it looks set to be pretty exciting. You can read all the latest spoilers here.
• Remember when we reported about Joel possibly being stabbed? Well that’s set to be on screen very shortly as you can see in the photos here. 
• This Saturday Emmett was pictured shooting a promo for Hollyoaks along with many other characters. It seems to be a carnival theme to be aired in June. As it seems it might be related to storylines happening in June, it’s intriguing that Emmett was seen filming with Kieron and PJ.
• The British Soap Awards aired on Wednesday and if you fancy watching it, it’s available to watch here. There are some screencaps here and here from the show. For the many, many BSA pics, check the British Soap Awards tag!
• From the British Soap Awards there were two video interviews with Emmett. One of the videos he introduced Neil Newbon (Walker) and in the second he spoke about whether Doug would be competition for Brendan and that Stendan is a love story and guarantees it’s not over.
• PJ Brennan and Kieron Richardson also weighed in on Brendan’s involvement in Ste’s life in interviews here, here and here.
• Kieron had a little chat with some Stendan fans on the KeeBroShow Twitter account where he urged disheartened fans that they can’t give everything away in interviews and to stick with it.
• Emmett fan MysteriousLMan shared a great report from the Charlie Casanova screening in Dublin, where he got a few nuggets of information from producer Emma Smithwick.
• Brendan is going to be in this year’s Hollyoaks Later!

• It was a great week for Emmett, Terry and all those involved with Charlie Casanova this week as the promotion of the film spread throughout Dublin.
• A screening in Dublin also took place which you can see press photos from here and here.
• Emmett was interviewed by the Irish Sun about playing bad guys as he has a “dickhead face”. I’m sure we’d challenge that..!
• So far Charlie Casanova (from the 11th May) is set to be shown in the Empire Leicester Square (London) and various cinemas in Ireland. I’ll tweet about other venues when they’re announced.

• Brendan spent most of the week in his grumpy parental mode telling whiny Joel what he could and couldn’t do with their club. When he returned from Barcelona he was in full BB glory, calling Joel an idiot. Catch up with Brendan’s storyline and the Ste and Doug story here.
• It was the British Soap Awards last night and unfortunately as you may have heard, Hollyoaks sadly came away empty handed. You can watch the show on ITV1 Wednesday 8pm.

• Last week with the build up to the BSAs had Bronagh Waugh canvassing for votes as Emmett scoffed biscuits - it’s brilliant. Emmett was also interviewed in The Sun’s Buzz magazine (you can read that here) and see extra (and stunning) photos from the shoot here and here.
• Emmett was pictured filming in and outside Chez Chez the other day and also revealed that he was filming into the night with Kieron Richardson the other day. 
• You might have noticed in the spoilers that a new arrival - Walker - is unwelcome but Brendan reluctantly lets him stay. We don’t know anything about him yet but we do know he’s played by Neil Newbon (who went to the BSAs yesterday). Speculation is rife, could he be the vicious character we’ve heard hinted about?
• I asked you to tweet the reasons you love Brendan and the list of 100 reasons are fantastic. Thanks to everyone who contributed.
• Kieron and Bronagh were teasing about Stendan this week, but they revealed Hollyoaks Later is returning…although whether Brendan will be in it, we’ll have to wait and see…

• Brendan gave a dastardly smile this week as it was revealed he was behind Joel’s brutal attack by the thugs. Seems like Scottish Foxy is permanently being tested. In shocking news, Brendan owns and plays on the retro games console SNES (perhaps he styled himself on Mario?). And in even more shocking news, there is the slight matter of that Stug hug. • Kieron Richardson was interviewed about the upcoming Ste and Doug storyline on Friday on Channel 5. You can read extracts from the interview here where he also talks about Ste and Brendan. Kieron clarified the comments made about the future of Stendan on today’s edition of the KeeBroShow. Although I didn’t personally hear it, he and Bronagh Waugh explained that it is in no way over. The KeeBroShow will be available On Demand on the “Listen Live” section here within the next few days.

• It’s been such a busy week for Double B (so busy in fact that I’m a day late with the News Summary!) not only has he seemed to involve himself with as many villagers as possible, but he’s also been testing apprentice Joel and involving himself with Ste and Doug’s business. It’s been so nice to have him feature so heavily in a week’s worth of episodes again! Watch him in all his meddling glory here.
• It’s also been a great week for Emmett as he made the shortlist for Best Actor at the British Soap Awards. Thank you to everyone who has voted so far. Make sure you get your votes in this round to make sure he has the best possible chance of winning Best Actor. I know it’s clichéd - but every vote counts!

• Judging by the spoilers, Brendan isn’t too happy about a club night arranged by Joel and Bart. Eighteen year olds running a club? Can’t say I’d be impressed either! 
• Emmett spoke about what may happen with Joel this week when Brendan gets him to run a dangerous errand for him.
• All About Soap blogged about loving Brendan Brady and their hopes for a Stendan-y future.
• Speaking of Stendan-y, the official site started up StendanWatch this week which is a funny take on their interactions! 
• They also have a poll running where you can decide whether Doug should have dealt with Brendan or not!
• More goodies from the official site this week was a special Easter Challenge video, where the cast were challenged to eat a Creme Egg in the style of Brendan. It then of course resulted in Emmett eating the egg himself like a “normal person” as Tom Scurr said. You definitely need to check it out!
• Interestingly, PJ Brennan revealed this week in an interview, that Doug was originally meant to be Irish and linked with Brendan. You can read the whole interview here.

• Brady’s back! After a wait that seemed to last forever (or was that just me?!) we saw the return of Double B on Friday’s E4. If you missed it then you must catch up because starting from tomorrow it’s all kicking off, featuring a menagerie of your favourite Brendan double acts! 
• Brendan’s featured heavily in the “Next Week” advert for Hollyoaks which you can see here. Excited yet?!

• Emmett gave an interview with All About Soap Magazine after his brilliant win of an award for Best Actor. In his interview he discussed the past year, his thanks to fans, Brendan’s current apprenticeship with Joel and continuing love for Ste. Read that here.
• Producer Emma Smithwick was really kind to fans this week as she treated us to photos taken from the TV as she watched the upcoming episodes! 
• Toby Everett and Joe Tracini also treated us to pictures of Emmett this week you can see those here here and here.
• In her “Spill the Beans” interview on the official site, Holly Weston (Ash) spoke about how Emmett is one of the biggest party animals and that she was nervous about her first scenes with him.

Hollyoaks - Brendan Brady

• Incredible news this morning as Emmett was announced as the winner of Best Actor at the All About Soap awards, beating off the “Big Three” soaps to win the prize. You can see a photo of him with his award here and to read more coverage of the awards and an interview with Emmett then pick up the new edition of All About Soap magazine on Tuesday. I can’t think of any actor more deserving of the award, so it’s really great to see him win!
• Voting for the British Soap Awards is still open so let’s continue this winning streak and vote for Emmett as Sexiest Male, Best Villain and Best Actor.
• Although there’s been no Brendan on screen this week, there looks set to be a lot of Brendan in upcoming episodes (starting this coming Friday) as he starts to meddle in Ste and Doug’s business, wanting control over Ste’s life again. You can read all about him getting Doug involved with his dealings by reading spoilers here and spoiler images here.
• DigitalSpy will be posting an interview with PJ Brennan (Doug) soon and it will shed light on Brendan’s upcoming motives and behaviour!
• It doesn’t look like there are any Ash and Brendan scenes in the near future although Holly Weston says she’d like to explore that again!
• Emmett did a photoshoot with other soap stars for The Sun’s Buzz magazine so look out for that.
• This week Emmett was pictured on set with Bronagh Waugh and Andrew Still and also in the staff canteen with Kieron Richardson. And it seems he’s been filming a lot this week. 
• On the KeeBroShow this week, Bronagh revealed one of her lines ( “But Brendan if he knew, you knew.”)  and that Emmett spat out his cornflakes laughing at her trying to get her lines out. And she and Karen Hassan (Lynsey) keep teasing on Twitter about a mysterious new cast member so it sounds like there is lots of exciting things on the horizon.

• This week saw everyone’s favourite, Cocktail!Brendan, appear, as he treated himself to a fancy one with sparklers and we saw lovely supportive, big brother Brendan too. Aw. • We finally have the next Brendan spoiler! But things are set to go wrong when Joel attempts to impress him. For Ste and Doug fans, it’s also been revealed that Ste and Doug open a new premises in the old Cincerity building (next to the old spa) named Carter & Hay. They have fancy aprons too. 
• Emmett was at work yesterday, as pictured in Chez Chez here, and a fan also snapped a picture at the gates of the studios of him and Andrew Still (Joel).
• Bronagh Waugh was interviewed by DigitalSpy and you can read the full interview here. She said she’d love to see Jay Duffy return as Declan and definitely wants the show to explore the Brady family history.
• And what would this news summary be without mentioning the amazing St Patrick’s Day video (which Emmett described as “genius”) in which Kieron Richardson paid tribute to Lynsey, Cheryl and of course Brendan. I adored seeing Kieron’s take on Double B, especially that apple devouring!

• It’s been quiet on the old Double B front lately (although it was a definitely a welcome, topless, return this week!) but if you missed him perfecting cocktail making with Joel and some brilliantly funny interactions with Leanne this week then catch up here. • Whilst he’s not in the spoilers this week, Emmett’s in the week’s cast list so Brendan will be making an appearance at some point.
• The big news this fortnight is the British Soap Awards. You can vote once per email address this year so please vote for Emmett as Sexiest Male, Best Villain and Best Actor. And if you’re forgetting why - have a look at this.
• This weekend Emmett was filming on location in Liverpool and you can see a photo of him here. Andrew Still (Joel) was also spotted in the nearby area, clutching his bloodied stomach. 
• This week Emmett was also involved in a casting session of a new character but we don’t know who this is yet!
• Producer Emma Smithwick has hinted at seeing a side-dish of “bad Brendan Brady” but also promised fans won’t be disappointed and that “BB needs to evolve in order to deserve Ste. Ste needs some joy! Not an abusive relationship for now. Both of them are on course for lots of drama. Hang in there”.

• If this week of Hollyoaks has taught us anything it’s that Brendan could give Doctor Evil a run for his money. Joel = Mini-me, anyone? Well that certainly seems to be the latest masterplan anyway! Catch up here. You can also catch up with all the Ste and Doug stuff too and it’s definitely worth a watch.
• And whilst we won’t be seeing Brendan until March, it looks like Joel is being coached to be his protégé. Will he grow a tache? That’s my question anyway. Also loopy Leanne Holiday will be having a trial at the club. I am hoping she gets to interact with Brendan.
• Judging by series producer Emma Smithwick’s tweets there should be some “Brarren” (Darren and Brendan) and Stendan on the horizon. Very excited by that prospect.
• British Soap Awards longlist is revealed tomorrow - hopefully Emmett will be on the longlist so I will be posting voting details when they surface.

• Scottish Foxy fans rejoice - he was back this week and with half of Chez Chez in his clutches. As you can probably guess, Brendan wasn’t best pleased with this! Brendan got a new man in the form of a blow up doll and had a brief, civil conversation with the ex-man in his life. Wonders never cease. Catch up here.
• After this coming week, no Brendan for at least a week, but the Ste and Doug storyline will be continuing. Personally I’m pretty excited by that!
• The All About Soap Awards nominations are open. Do the right thing and vote for Emmett in the Best Actor category.

• You might have seen a charity auction on ebay for Elton John’s AIDS charity with Emmett’s naked photo from Gay Times. Bidding has now closed but the winning bid was £180 AND his photo fetched the second highest price which is great news for the charity.

• This week saw a caring and sharing Double B. He shared his pork pie eating skills, one-handed bra unhooking (how useful to him that is these days, is debatable), gave Darren dancing lessons (yes, really), talked about his wedding day and gave Lynsey job-interview advice. If you’re finding it hard to believe he shared and cared so much this week, catch up here.
• Emmett has been nominated for Best Actor in the All About Soap awards! Voting opens on Tuesday (more details on that day). Last year Emmett, Kieron Richardson and Alice Barlow picked up an AAS award for Best Love Triangle, so you never know!
• In stunning, paint-splattered glory Brendan showed up in the Hollyoaks Valentine’s promo. Watch him triumphantly burst pink heart-shaped balloons here.
• Emmett’s been in work this week and on location (but we don’t know where) and Stephanie Davis took some photos of him trying to snooze in the greenroom.
• Next week sees the return of Joel Dexter (aka Scottish Foxy) and new spoilers reveal he’s persuaded to stay by Brendan - but does he have an ulterior motive.
• For those interested, it looks like Brendan’s ex-lover Ste and ex-drug mule Doug will be going into business together! We know the three have been on set together so I wonder how Brendan gets involved!

• The Irish Film and Television Awards 2012 were held in Dublin last night. Emmett attended and was also nominated for the Rising Star Award and Charlie Casanova nominated for Best Film, Best Director, Best Editing and Best Script. Sadly they missed out on these awards, but what an incredible achievement for all involved.

• You can now watch a new trailer of the film Blood in which Emmett stars and you can rent the film, for a charge, too.

• It was a Brendan-less week this week, which is always disappointing isn’t it? We did meet Ally who will be Brendan’s love rival of sorts when Ally starts dating Ste (so we heard on the Twitter grapevine from an extra who leaked the info). You can catch up with his arrival here.
• From Twitter this week we learnt that Emmett was filming with both Kieron Richardson and PJ Brennan at the end of the week. Stendan and Bruglas fans rejoice!
• But for more recent spoilers check this tag and you’ll see that we’ve got the return of Scottish Foxy and Britzeee. And what’s likely to be trouble when Ste chooses an unfortunate time to ask for a reference. Yikes. All coming up in February.
• This week sees Brendan working hard in Chez Chez with Cheryl spending lots of time being student, helping Lynsey with her job interview and pointing out Cheryl’s failings (brotherly love, eh?!)

• Hey Big Spender! Lady Man in Red! It was music week on Hollyoaks. Well, not quite, but we did have our very own trumpet based number - Brendan serenading Darren in the village. It was definitely meddling week, this week. First Brendan had issues with Cheryl hanging out with the students (but this did lead to one of Chester’s best hook-ups: Charney!) and then he decided to tempt Darren back into gambling. He did this with a delicious red coat and red shirt. Was he playing the devil in Darren’s conscience this week? The flash Zara coat got a thumbs up from me, but feelings were mixed it seems! Catch up here.
• That’s all we’ve got of Brendo until the 6th of Feb where he’s back working his socks off when Cheryl is too busy doing studenty things. 
• This week in the Oaks sees the arrival of Aussie Ally who is set to be Ste’s new love interest (leaked on Twitter by a extra working on the show - oops!) so he’ll probably be involved with Brendan at some point.
• Elsewhere in the Twitterverse Kieron Richardson tweeted about sitting alone in the greenroom with Emmett, learning their lines. Not sure if this means the scenes they were reading means scenes together but I’m sure we’ll find out at some point! 
• Hollyoaks’ Karen Hassan (Lynsey) spoke fondly about being friends with Emmett off-screen in an interview she did for OK! Magazine. 

Charlie Casanova

• No news as yet when Charlie Casanova is officially released in cinemas but there are news articles about its imminent release here and here. Emmett tweeted that the release is expected to be late Spring.

Hollyoaks - Brendan Brady

• SOUP! Brendan LOVES soup! Brendan also hates students, finds the idea of crisps in tubes fascinating and loves nothing more than grassing up underage teens on a booze cruise behind the bar. Brendan sightings were a rare glimpse this week but incase you missed the episode, catch up here.
• Next week sees Brendan don a brand new coat (he’s gone for a military red number - what do we think, a good look?) and lead Darren in gambling temptation. You can see a glimpse of this and Brendan’s new coat in the preview here.
• Emmett’s been filming a brand new Valentine’s Day promo for Hollyoaks along with other cast members including Ashley Taylor-Dawson (Darren), Jessica Fox (Nancy), Stephanie Waring (Cindy), Danny Mac (Dodger) and more. We don’t know what the promo will entail yet but this photo was tweeted and whatever happened after this photo - someone tweeted that he didn’t even blink. Intriguing!

• Nikon Coolpix are running a “Which Hollyoaks character Coolpix camera are you?” quiz. You can, of course, rig the quiz and get Brendan like I did!
• And the official site posted a lovely photo of Emmett supporting Abi Phillips (Liberty) who had a gig this week.

• Last week Charlie Casanova received four IFTA nominations and this week it was announced that Emmett himself picked up an IFTA nomination for Rising Star! The nomination is for those who “have shown themselves to be world class talents in their respective fields”. Read all about the nomination here.
• Emmett said this of his nomination: “I’m utterly shocked. When I heard the news I thought it was a wind up  at first… This is stuff of fairy tales. Walt Disney couldn’t have written it, Mystic Meg couldn’t have predicted it… I just wanted to make a movie and now I find myself in a category of folk more deserving of the recognition…the fact that it’s my own home country makes this very special for me. I am massively humbled and grateful for the nod. Thank you very much.”
